Blog Tour: Art of Forgiveness by Monique Orgeron { Book Review, Teasers & Giveaway}

Title: Art of Forgiveness
Series: A Stern Family Saga, Book 2
Author: Monique Orgeron
Genre: Contemporary Romance w/ Suspense
Release Date: January 19, 2018
Can love survive years of pain?
Liam Stern lived a charmed and carefree life. Always surrounded by friends, he was the boy who could have any girl he wanted, and did.
Until Avery.
She was pure and innocent. She was the one he never saw coming.
She was the only thing that mattered, but the time came for him to fulfill his destiny. To protect Avery from a life she was not made for, he would have to give up the one thing he loved most in this world: her.
Now the decisions made years ago come back to cost them both, dearly.
Avery Edwards was a good girl, never stepping out of line, always the obedient daughter.
Until Liam showed her everything she was missing in her life: love.
Liam was her future, or at least she thought.
Until he broke her.
That was the beginning of her nightmare.
After years apart, Liam and his family hold her future in their hands. Rebuilding a girl who no longer cares to live.
After years of hating Liam, can Avery truly give him her forgiveness?

Art of Forgiveness is my first book by Monique Orgeron but it certainly won't be my last. The story of Avery and Liam is not for the faint of heart. Highly emotional and dealing with tough issues, I definitely shed a few tears but the character development and storyline makes all the tears totally worth it.

Avery has had intense feelings for Liam since high school when they dated for a time. Too bad their whole relationship was a secret and he broke her heart before it could even start. Since then, Avery has learned to protect her heart and she doesn't let any men in. That goes for her drop dead gorgeous friend Phil too. Of course that doesn't stop Phil from trying.

After Avery goes through a heart wrenching experience she finds herself recovering at Liam's house and she is welcomed in to his family by his mother Catherine. Slowly Avery starts to gain some self respect back but she still hates Liam for what he did to her and she certainly isn't going to give him the chance to break her again.

Liam has lusted after Avery for so many years and regrets the mistakes he made long ago. He knows he's no good for her and she deserves so much more but try telling that to his heart. He buries himself in his family business and try's to avoid his attraction to Avery at every turn.

The story of Avery and Liam is tense, romantic and heart pounding. It is one couple I won't soon forget and I can't wait to dig into the first book by Monique soon.

Written by Monique Orgerons eldest, most beautiful, and intelligent daughter. (My sister is going to hate this part.)
My mom happens to be the most caring, loving, and stubborn person I know, well anyone knows. She gives 100% percent of herself to everyone and has given up so much of herself for my sister and I. For twenty-one years she has poured her heart and soul into making sure we know that we are loved and that we can do anything we put our minds too, but it was about time she figured that out about herself.
Up until this year I hadnt seen my mom do anything for only her, but this book has allowed her to travel the world through the pages of a book, make new friends, and feel the joy of doing something exciting.
There is a new light behind her eyes and it is just making me feel more joy than she can ever imagine. While she might be annoying most of the time, I am so thrilled that she is finally allowing herself to grow as a person and not spend all of her energy on her family.
It has been a long journey of self-discovery for my mom; she has gone from domestic supermom to domestic goddess throughout the process of writing.
We are so very excited and proud of you! I love you as big as the world.

Tour dates: Jan 3 to 31, 2017

Book Description:

At thirty-six, Susan Sinclair has it all. She's just been promoted to Senior Vice President of Mobile Banking at her firm, a prestigious position bringing fresh creative challenges and a hefty salary increase. Like the shiny new BMW in the driveway of the Silicon Valley home she shares with her husband, Matt, and their two beautiful boys, Susan exudes confidence and style.

Yet despite her success in juggling the roles of wife, mother, and businesswoman, Susan struggles with a secret dissatisfaction. Matt's work in cutting-edge computer research pays less than her job, and with each advance in her career, he has grown more distant. But Matt refuses to admit there is a problem, and Susan forces herself to play along, determined to give her boys the close-knit family life she never had.

Then she meets her new boss, Reese Kirkpatrick. Working and traveling together, she and Reese become a crackerjack team, but little by little, pleasure mixes with business. For the first time in a long timemaybe everSusan feels seen and appreciated for who she is. Certain she would never allow their friendship to cross the line, Susan lets herself stray dangerously close to the edge.

A moment of weakness changes everything. Now, unable to stomach the faade her marriage has become yet unwilling to decimate her family by moving forward with Reese, Susan faces a choice that could cost her everythingincluding her children . . . but possibly bring her more than she can dream.

"Degrees of Love" is Lisa's first novel but I never would guessed that by the writing style or the way the story flowed so seamlessly together. Lisa had me hooked from page one and I couldn't stop reading till the end. I read this book in one night. Yes 344 pages in one night. I just couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

Susan is 36 and from the outside it appears she has it all but she doesn't think so. Even when she gets the promotion she's been waiting for, it isn't enough to make her completely happy. She feels as if something is missing. Her life is simply mundane. The same things happen day in and day out.

It wasn't a conscience decision but it begins to happen anyway. Susan takes steps to make her life more enticing and before she knows it her marriage is in trouble and her life is out of control.

I'm not one for cheating and I usually don't like books that have it in them but this one was different somehow. I found myself understanding Susan's point of view on life even though I didn't condone what she did.

I think as a reader our job is to give each book a chance to tell the story it is meant to and then we decide if the author makes us fall or not. I know I fell for this book hard and I hope others do too.

Praise for Degrees of Love:

"Slabach crafts a relatable, heartbreakingly real story that will no doubt resonate with those at a similar station in life: women who love their families yet yearn for just a little moreto feel wanted rather than needed, to feel passion rather than complacency. In engaging prose and through skillful storytelling, Slabach captivates with an all-too-familiar story that raises questions with no easy answers."
- Kirkus Reviews (Starred Review)

"This does not read like a debut authors book. Slabach shows herself to be adept at portraying the complex emotions of the human condition. Her characters live and breathe on the page in a way that every author strives for, but few actually manage. Susans struggles ring true, and the way she handles everything makes her a very likable and relatable character."
- Sarah Perry, San Francisco Book Review, 5 Stars

"Profound, heart wrenching and very emotional, it is hard to believe that Degrees of Love is a debut novel by Lisa Slabach. This is one of the best novels I have read this year."
- Rabia Tanveer, Readers' Favorite
