Synopsis:

From the outside, Abbys life looks like a fairytale. Loving family, wealthy lifestyle, education at a prestigious university. The truth? Shes barely managing to survive. Few know the nightmare she lived before she was adopted. And no one knows the secret agony that still haunts her nightmares. With a degree from Berkeley, she could have gone anywhere, but shes back in Colorado. Not for a fresh startfresh starts are only an illusionbut for Wes Ahern. Her protector, who throws around words like therapy and talk to me. Her brother in every way but blood. The one man she wishes could be so much more. Maybe, just this once, she can stop running from her demons. But does she dare let Wes see inside the darkest closets of her painor will love be the biggest mistake of her life? An inspirational and emotional contemporary romance Begin with You is a heartbreaking tale of fresh starts and old wounds. This jarring and dark novel will leave readers at the edge of their seats. This is part one of a duet, thus containing a cliffhanger that leads into the next installment. It contains references to childhood trauma, kidnapping, and PTSD.

--------------------

You have got to be kidding me? I am speechless. What a cliffhanger.... Ugh, where's the next book? I'm having withdrawals. This is why Claudia is one of the best authors ever. She writes these angst love stories that get you hooked on her characters and you never want their story to end.

Abby is sweet, beautiful and amazing on the outside and her friendship with Wes is a very special one sealed when she was 17 and came to stay with his family as a foster kid. Wes quickly became her protector, but never really knew what made Abby terrified enough to have constant nightmares and pretend she couldn't talk for the first month she was living there.

Abby had just lost her sister and needed a place to feel loved. Abby was not at all what she appeared to be on the outside. She was quiet and wouldn't talk for awhile because it was easier to shut everyone out, even the ones who were trying to love you. You see Abby learned that love always comes with a cost. She learned that it was so much better to be mute and pretend she wasn't there than to show herself to others. Hers is a tragic story but will she ever share it with the one man who might be able to heal her?

Wes was adopted at five by the same family Abby came to stay with years later. His start wasn't the greatest either but with the love of his adoptive family, he learned to rise above his troubled beginnings. Wes was tough on the inside, helped run his fathers business and didn't show his heart of gold to just anyone. I was HOOKED on Wes right away. He wasn't the typical playboy gone wrong. He always put his family first and went above and beyond for those he loved.

Simply phenomenal those are the perfect words for this novel. Phenomenal characters, phenomenal storyline and a phenomenal ending although I must say I have NOT slept since finishing it as I HAVE TO read the next book like NOW!!!

If you follow my reviews, it is no secret that Claudia is one of my favorite authors and she has been since her very first book came out. If you haven't picked up her books, this would be a great one to start with. Fall in love with Abby and Wes and at the same time, fall in love with this author! I promise you, you won't regret it!

I will never forget the night I drowned

A village with something to hide.

Seventeen-year-old Eleanor Parker wakes up cold and alone in the river that twists through her quiet village. She has no memory of how she got there. But she does know that another girl was drowned in the same river the summer before, held under the water by an unknown killer

A community torn apart.

Eleanor is a normal, every day teenager. She argues with her mum, spends her days with her best friend, and is looking forward to a carefree summer of sunshine and music. Who would want to hurt her?

A shocking secret.

Determined to unlock the mystery of what really happened to her, Eleanor can't escape the feeling that something awful links her to the previous summer's murder. But will she find out the truth before its too late?

A gripping and extraordinary coming of age novel that will make you question everything and keep you guessing until the very end. Perfect for fans of We Were Liars, Looking for Alaska by John Green and hit TV show Riverdale

Three words: Captivating, Mysterious and Fantastically Told.

The Death and Life of Eleanor Parker follows Eleanor as she tries to piece together the events of the previous evening, you see she wakes up after she's been drowned in the town river. Yup, you heard me correctly, Eleanor wakes up DEAD! As she begins to gather evidence on the previous nights events that lead her into the river, she realizes there are many suspects, even those closest to her. Eleanor ponders about her existence as an un-dead person through out the novel, which to me made me believe in the story even more. Sleep, hunger and human emotions are evading her, and her body is slowly disintegrating.
Finding her own killer becomes non-negotiable for Eleanor when another girl is taken, and her brother Oliver comes under suspicion.

I was so engrossed in this storyline, even when I wasn't reading the book I couldn't help to think about it. I couldn't wait to find out who really killed her! Kerry weaves the plot expertly and really engages the reader into the story. I felt for all the characters and their part of the plot.

This story is YA mystery with a little paranormal thrown in. This is not my typical genre but I have no regrets giving it a try as I found out  it is important to "think outside the box". I will definitely be picking up more books by Kerry Wilkinson in the near future.

Shell do anything for you

My name is Alex, and my world has been shattered.
My husband has left me.
My children wont speak to me.
My friend Carrie is the only person I have.
Shes the only one I can trust to keep all my secrets.
Shed never do anything to let me down.
Would she?

This dark, gripping psychological thriller will have you holding your breath until the very last page. Fans of Behind Closed Doors, Sometimes I Lie, and The Girl on the Train will be captivated.

Three words: Edge of your seat action, amazing twists and crazy ending.

Wow, just when I thought I had figured out what was going on in this story the author twisted everything around and left my head spinning. There are twists throughout which had me constantly second guessing myself. Then she leaves us with an epilogue which totally blew everything I had previously thought out of the water.

I could not keep up with all the twists and turns this story took. I found myself going back to read certain parts because I thought I missed something but no, Barbara is just that good of a story teller! I can't believe this is my first book by her. I will definitely be rectifying that soon!

The main character Alex is a very sweet lady who seems genuine and wants to help others even though she is facing major issues of her own. She befriends Carrie first out of a sense of guilt then comes to feel as if she is a mother like figure to her. Mysterious things start to happen and Alex starts questioning her own sanity, and I found myself questioning her sanity and those around her.

The story opens at a support group meeting, with Alex, a self-proclaimed liar, recovering anorexic and a 44 year old dressmaker, giving her version of her story. She looks to her best friend, Carrie - there for support for her cancer diagnosis, to see her reaction. From there, the lies build, cross, expand and convolute for the remainder of the book.

I love it when a book takes you completely by surprise and you have to rethink everything you have been led to believe. Some of the actions the characters took in their past made me want to slap them and say get a grip for goodness sake!

This is a book that is very hard to review without giving anything away, so I will just say if you are a fan of mess with your head, psychological thrillers, you have to read this one.

About the Author

Barbara is the Amazon and USA Today bestselling author of psychological thrillers INVISIBLE, FLOWERS FOR THE DEAD, THE DARKEST LIES, and HER LAST SECRET. Her latest book is THE PERFECT FRIEND.

More importantly, she loves cakes, wildlife photography and, last but definitely not least, her two dogs, Scamp and Buddy (who force her to throw tennis balls for them for hours). ??

Having spent over twenty years as a national newspaper and magazine journalist, Barbara has interviewed the real victims of crime - and also those who have carried those crimes out. She is fascinated by creating realistic, complex characters, and taking them apart before the readers' eyes in order to discover just how much it takes to push a person over a line.

When not writing feverishly, she is often found hiding behind a camera, taking wildlife photographs.
