As each chapter passes she learns you can truly fall in love with a character in a book, that book boyfriends are real and Emme must choose between the real world, and his.

When the last page is read he's gone and Emme feels the cold loneliness of lost love. Will she find Jack again, or will their love be forever lost? The answer lies within the pages

Interview with Christy Sloat

Welcome to Bookish Lifestyle, Christy! As mentioned in the book synopsis, Savannah has the ability to time travel through books. If you could time travel through one book (or series) which book and why?

Thats a very hard question. I love so many stories. I think I would travel through Harry Potter because who wouldnt love to see Hogwarts in person? My hope would be to survive Lord Voldemorts wrath.

What made you choose 14th century Scotland? Why this time period and location?
As a kid I was obsessed with medieval times. I took a class on that period and even worked at the Renaissance Faire for a summer. It was a lot of fun and I learned so much. I chose Scotland because I am part Scottish and someday I hope to visit. My favorite movie is Braveheart and I had to use that as my theme. There is something so fascinating about a girl from our time period being dropped in the rolling hills of Scotland during the most tumultuous time in their history. How would she survive? And what would she learn?

What is the weirdest thing you Googled or came across during your research?
Well we all know about Outlander and James Fraser. Im literally in love with Diana Gabaldons work. One day I was reading about the clans and the Frasers came up. There really was a James Fraser, but he was not a hot kilt wearing stud. Nope, he was short, stumpy, and bald. This definitely made me laugh.

If you could spend a day with one your characters, who would you choose, where would you go, and what would you talk about?
I think Id chose Savannah, because we have a lot in common. We are both cut from the same cloth, you could say. Shes not a typical girl, shes a book nerd, like me, and shes curvy, like me. I think we would peruse Barnes and Noble and talk books.

When you're not writing or editing, what are you doing with your free time?
Im probably hiking, fishing, or spending time with my family. If Im not doing that, then Im reading.

I am Southern California native, now living in New Jersey! How did that happen? I am married and have two beautiful little girls who love to read just like Mommy. I have had a passion for books since I was a little girl and an imagination for just as long. I hope my books can inspire others to read and to write too.

"My arms ache with the need to reach and hold my precious child, and then to never let go. But I cant. I know I cant."

?Heather is devastated. Theres no way she can keep her baby. She can barely pay the bills as it is. But when she meets Grace, a wealthy, single career woman, who wants a baby more than anything, Heather believes she has found the perfect adoptive mother.

As Grace and Heathers lives become entwined, they are tested to breaking point, though neither can deny the others love for the child. But just when they think they are learning how to live with each other, they receive devastating news that turns their fragile world upside down.

Will either mother know what is the right thing to do for the child they both love?

?An absolutely gripping, emotional drama with a tear-jerking twist. If you love Jodi Picoult, Kelly Rimmer or Diane Chamberlain, this will warm your heart, make you cry, and stay with you forever.

(Goodreads)

Heather is a mother of three little girls when she gets pregnant with her fourth child. Right away she knows with her husband on disability and about to lose it, and her working so much, and barely being able to afford their rent, bills, and food, that she will have to get rid of her baby. She can't even imagine it, but she knows it's what is right for the child.

Heather goes to an adoption agency and meets Tina who helps her find couples to adopt her unborn child. She looks through several loving couples that look perfect, but she doesn't want perfect. It makes her feel inadequate. Then she comes across Grace's profile. Grace is rich & sophisticated, but single. Grace doesn't believe anyone will pick her, because of her unconventional lifestyle. Then Heather does.

Heather thinks Grace would be perfect for her child, as she likes the idea that Grace has struggles in life. She doesn't have a spouse or any friends. She lives at her job for the moment and she just lost her father. Somehow this makes Heather feel like she is giving Grace something to hold on too.

Then Heather gives birth and everything changes for her. She gives birth to a son, that her and her husband always wanted. She can't imagine giving her son away. She takes a few days and thinks..... She won't see Grace at all and Grace is a mess just waiting.....

This book was so well written and genuine. Told from both women's viewpoints, the reader gets a look inside how a perspective mother feels when adopting and how a birth mother feels giving her child away. Heart-wrenching, fast paced and a major tear jerker, this book is a must read.

Get ready to laugh out loud, swoon, and fall in love with this new, fun, and sexy stand-alone novel from New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig. Demonstrating her versatility in writing, Aleatha revisits her lighter side that you loved in PLUS ONE.

A complete stand-alone, ANOTHER ONE is the next big summer hit.

*Shana*

Trevor Willis is sexy, sweet, and oh so fun. Hes also my best friends brother-in-law. That should mean hes off-limits, or that I should be off-limits to him.

Someone probably should have told us that before my best friend married his brother, before the morning of the wedding when we woke in each others arms with gaping holes in my memory.

They didnt.

We did.

The hilarious truth behind our crazy, secret adventure secured this handsome, off-limits man in my heart. But alas, life goes on. After our one secret night, we went back to our livesour hardworking, solitary lives.

And then it happened.

My phone began to buzz. Each night with thousands of miles between us, we laughed, talked, and shared. And then, the phone stopped ringing.

Before it did, I knew one thing...

Our secret one had bloomed and blossomed, and now that our circumstances have changed I want another one!

*Trevor*

Shana Price is that one woman. You know, the one who suddenly makes the world more than a place to work, but also a place to live. Usually shy and awkward, in her presence I want to be moreI am more. I dont even have to try.

Shes my one. I knew it the moment I first met her. What followed simply confirmed it.

The problem is the little hassle of the thousands of miles between us.

I tried to make it work, but each phone call made it harder. (Yes, that is a pun) I couldnt take it any moreand she became the one who got away.

Now, everything has changed.

Shana is back in the United Statesall I have to do is make her see that her job isnt the only reason to stay.

That shouldnt be a problem, right?

From a secret one to another one!

Try Aleathas lighter side for a guaranteed smilethe perfect getaway.

Have you been Aleathad?

Excerpt

Trevor~

Sweet and tangy.

Shana Price tastes like sugar with a twist of lemon.

My mind tells me to go slow, reminding me that I dont have any right to this beautiful woman. My mind is saying to stop, yet her soft moan is all I hear.

My body has its own GPS with the destination close. Listening to my mind is out of the question.

Her petite body shivers as I tease her sweet lips. They willingly part as my tongue delves inside, wrestling with hers.

Not giving up its fight, my thoughts remind me how forward this behavior is and how it isnt like me. Trevor Willis is not a man who chases a woman down, pins her against the wall, and kisses her until neither of us can breathe or cares.

Its not me.

But, it should be.

I like it.

I wont blame the alcohol. Ill blame my need to know its really Shana and to claim her for my own. I didnt do it last time, and Ive regretted it every day since.

When her hands come to my chest, I seize them, lifting them above her head and pinning them to the wall. Shana doesnt fight; instead, her hips move against mine and our kiss grows more passionate. In the dark, crowded hallway, with my body pressed against hers, I swallow the soft moans coming from her throat.

At that moment, I want to be anywhere but a crowded bar in the middle of Manhattan. I no longer care about Erics bachelor party or my friends. I dont even care about Kimbra back out in the bar. All I want is to whisk Shana away and do what we didnt do before, what her body and mine are ready and aching to do.

I tried my hardest not to finish this book in ONE sitting and enjoy the whole process, a little bit longer, but this proved to be impossible! Trevor and Shana had be from hello. Cheesy? But it's true!

With Shana waking up on the morning of her best friends wedding next to a hot green eyed stranger and not remembering what happened the night before, she starts to panic. Shane learns that Trevor is more than just a stranger and although their careers have them thousands of miles apart they speak for a short while on the phone. Slowly over time contact diminishes and they both carry on but never forgetting each other and the night they shared.

This is my very first book by Aleatha Romig but it certainly is the start of something wonderful. What a great story teller! Her characters were so easy to fall for and her prose instantly draws you in.

I love how gentlemanly and supportive Trevor is! He and Shana are just perfect together, despite the battles they must fight to be together! Their instant connection both times they met was amazing. Their chemistry set the pages on fire, and hooked me! This book was fabulous, and I'd recommend it to anyone that is looking for something just a little bit different in the romance world.

Life Since Motherhood: What's Changed and What Hasn't

Happy Mother's Day to all those mamas out there! Are you doing anything special with your family? We had dinner at my mom's last night and today we are having brunch with my dad then heading out to our local garden center to get some plants and flowers so I can play in the dirt!

Teacup Human was born a little over a year and a half ago, sometimes it seems like yesterday and sometimes a lifetime ago. She is the absolute love of my life and I thank God every day that I get to be her mama.

Over the course of my pregnancy and new motherhood, I knew things were going to change but I also knew somethings were going to stay the same and get even better.

What's Changed

I don't give a fuck. After college, I wasn't much of a person who cared about strangers opinions - it was a long process to get there, but I got there. After Teacup was born, I stopped worrying about other peoples' opinions all together. My main concern is my baby and what she needed. Now granted, I give more weight to what my husband and family think, but that stranger in the grocery store? Fuck 'em.

    via GIPHY
My tolerance for idiots. I've never had a high tolerance for morons, but when I'm functioning on little sleep and just want to be home so I can cuddle with my baby, that tolerance is almost gone. Nonexistent. There is murder in my eyes and I will let you know my feelings. I especially don't have tolerance for public places that don't have changing tables but do have highchairs. I don't care if it doesn't fit your esthetic. You know what's going to ruin your esthetic? Me changing my child's poopy diaper in the middle of the dining room.

    via Giphy
Bodily functions don't gross me out. When Teacup was a week old, we took her newborn pictures. During this photo session, I got peeped and pooped on simultaneously. It was a nice "Welcome to Motherhood!" Since then, I've had my fair share of changing blowouts (it really can go all the way up their back), randomly getting poop on my hands, catching vomit, and being handed chewed food was deemed unacceptable. Plus, babies really do have the cutest farts.

    via Giphy
I am ten times more organized. I was always an organized person. In high school, I loved using my planner for writing down assignments, due dates, and the like. This trait followed me to college and beyond. For 2017 I had a regular paper planner which worked fine, but was lacking. For 2018 I upgraded to the Plum Paper ME planner and absolutely love it! I'll do a separate post on it later, but just know it's kind of the best thing and I would be lost without it.

      via GIPHY
I'm more emotional than ever. I was always an easy crier, but now I cry at almost everything that brings upon strong emotion. Remember that Amazon commercial where the dad buys his dog a lion mane so his baby won't be afraid of him? Instant tears.

      via GIPHY

      What Hasn't Changed
I get to spend plenty of one-on-one time with my husband. It's not as much as before Teacup was born, but we still carve out time for just us. Whether that's watching TV after she's gone to bed, hanging out on the couch reading while she naps, or having a date night we ensure we keep our relationship strong. It's harder, yes, but it also allows us to enjoy our time together all the more.

        via GIPHY
I am able to carve out time for me. Recently I've started doing Yoga with Adriene and I'm obsessed. It's definitely helped me be more claim and keep my racing thoughts at bay. It's helped me fall asleep quicker, and stay asleep, as well as be more present each day. I'm not toting this as "the cure for all your woes" this is just what has worked for me.

        via GIPHY
Baby giggles are the best thing - and make it hard to discipline. If you tell me you don't at least smile when a baby giggles I'm going to call you a liar. It is one of my favorite things when Teacup giggles. The drawback is that when she does something bad and giggles when I scold her, I have to look away. I can't help but smile, which defeats the whole purpose, because "if Mommy is smiling and laughing I'm not doing something wrong." Joe is definitely better with disciple because he can keep a straight face.

        via GIPHY
I care about my appearance. I'm not vain about it, but I also don't (purposefully) leave the house with unbrushed hair and dirty clothes. I've perfected the five-minute beauty routine - eyebrows, eyeliner if I'm feeling ambitious and have time, mascara, and lipstick. When I look good, I feel good.

        via GIPHY
I drink alcohol. I'm not a lush about it, but after a long day and a cranky toddler a nice class of red wine goes a long way

        via GIPHY
I have time for my friends. We're all quite busy and at this point are either married, having babies, or have had (multiple) babies, so I'll admit it's tricky to find time. But the nice thing is with today's technology, we're always within reach. We may have to schedule a night out months in advance, but it's always worth the wait!

Death Doesnt Bargain is the second historical fantasy title in New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyons Deadmans Cross series. Where Deadmen tell their tales, and every soul is damned or redeemed by the final choices they make.

        The Deadmen are back...

But so are the demons who have broken free of their eternal prison and are bent on mankind's destruction. The worst of the lot is Vine, determined to claim their lives for taking hers. She will see the world burn...and has the perfect lure to destroy them all. One of their own.

Kalder Dupree has never known a day of mercy. Born to the cruelest of mer-races, he sacrificed himself for his crew and is in Vine's hands. He expects no mercy or rescue.

Yet Cameron Jack is determined to set Kalder free. As a Hellchaser, it's her calling, and she cannot allow even a not-so-innocent to be tortured for an act of kindness that spared her damnation.

To defeat evil, it sometimes takes an even worse evil, and Cameron is willing to do whatever she must to make this right. If Vine thought she had her hands full before, she hasn't seen anything nearly as powerful as Cameron's resolve.

        Praise for Death Doesn't Bargain

"Kenyon (Born of Legend) puts the lie to the old adage Dead men tell no tales in the jam-packed, appealing first book of her Deadmans Cross historical fantasy series." ?Publishers Weekly on Deadmen Walking

        Excerpt

Theres a debt I owe, from long ago. One I promised to keep sacred.

        And?

And I failed. Vine knows the source of it, as she was there when the bargain was struck between us. Devyl should have killed her then. Too bad hed been married to her at the time, and had thought to keep his family intact. Stupid him for being sentimental.

Care to fill me in on it?

Not really. Devyl didnt want to confide in Thorn. Long ago, they had been the bitterest of enemies. It was hard to get past that. Hard to trust someone hed once spent years trying to slaughter.
